my, aren't those stumps the rage?

does this rage have you peering at a fallen tree in the woods differently now?
that tree is no longer a hazard to a blind bear or a bevy of joy for the beavers. no, no, no!
as i saunter (yes, i saunter so ZIP it) about on our winding, wooded roads with my dogs in tow, i spy potential side tables, upcoming wall shelving, future table bases and even cushy overflow seating (yes, it's true) withering away in the elements.
wait, is that back pain hovering over there beside the dark tree on the right? yes, sadly, it is.
if only trees were
easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy
to cut,
to lift,
to carry,
to plane,
to balance,
to freshen,
to smooth.
to finish.

then there's the stop-me-in-my-tracks mitchell gold+ and bob williams interpretation... a balance of natural roughness juxtaposed with contrived perfection.
(hmmm... sounds like some people i know.)

this one is best left to the big guys, dontcha think?
still, to all you "little guys" who tackled the timber and treated it to a refreshed role as table... or, in truth, a treasure... i send oodles of accolades.
i will also send a check should you have a refreshed stump rooting 'round for new digs.

These are so beautiful! Too bad there aren't too many good trees stumps in AZ. Oh well, I'll just pin them all and live vicariously through my pinterest. :)
Love all those pics! And yes, I walk around on the trails thinking of ways to use all that lovely wood...but would much prefer someone do the hard part and just let me paint it :)
I want to do a group of these for the pool. Trees are being cut down that are the perfect size right behind our neighborhood but I can't lift them! There's not a place to stop and park, either. I'm thinking of gathering a posse to get me a few. Know any good looking lumberjack types that would work for cookies?
Not gonna lie, I like this trend. I secretly wish to be married to a lumberjack. I will make him yummy pancakes and he will bring me gorgeous looking stumps...and fresh maple syrup.
Too funny that we have a tree service and yet I have never even THOUGHT of doing anything with the wood - except throwing it in our boiler to heat the house. LOL And I have a big ole strong man that does nothing put saw and toss those suckers around all day. Hmmm... Might just have to get him to save me a few... Ya know, for end tables or sumthin'.
Wow, I love 'em. We have some pine tree trunks on furniture, but those are easy to cut and move.

I've been making mine (the Fremont Tables) for over a year...I love them. You should get on it for your new place! Hmmm...maybe a housewarming gift ;)
lol, I think this trend will wear itself out, especially the tree stumps with padded vinyl nailed on top. Don't worry.
The only pic I thought wouldn't wear on me was the birch trees holding up that white table.
It's a fun idea but after a while you're gonna want a table you can hide the remotes in again.
I could be wrong. I frequently am, now that I think about it. sigh
Love this post! I have a nice old big dead tree in my front yard from the drought last summer...

I just want to warn you, tree furniture is angry. It's out to stub your toes, even if it has to jump in front of you in the dark night.
Just sayin'.
I see no stumps in my future...
But my cousin-in-law is a wood artist... but he's traveling the world helping his wife with her Brick Art. They are quite amazing.
