could you get much done surrounded by that buzz?
i try the reliable "la-la-la-laaaaa....i can't hear you"-chant with a side of static-charged country music but, still, the wood whispers seek my ears... and nag.
the cherry on my sundae of monday morning whine is that i'm in a slump... a flump... a pflumpy gunky flump of creative ineptitude.

and this roadside rescue is the root of my slump.
until she started crumbling under my fingertips. the repair of the puckering veneer and derailed dovetails scarfed up studio space and my time...
my patience...
a colorful finish that will show off her shape?
a subtle shade to subdue her size?

a graphic reveal to enhance her woodgrain?

stumped, i started anyway and tripped over my tries,
slipped on my so-called solutions
and
plummeted past my plans....
landing in "i-dunno-what-i-wanna-be"-land. sort of like oz in that one is not quite sure how things will turn out.
so... monday morning in oz.
odd.
but we have to start somewhere, right?

What a lovely dilemma to have though?! Looking forward to seeing what you decide to do! :) x
I really love that piece you are working on, super amazing! IS the hardware still in good shape? So pretty. YOU moving your business to NC? My sis in law will be close, so just asking!!! She is in Pittsboro.
Love that piece! I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Megan
at least you have stuff to work on... more than i can say! love that armoire and can't wait to see what you do. i know it will be awesome.
Ooh...an art deco waterfall piece from the 1930's. We bought our daughter a complete bedroom set like this over 15 years ago and it is now at my in-laws - untouched. I'm excited to see what you do with this piece - maybe you'll inspire me. You will come up with something extraordinary, as always!
Hey..I recognize that little gray dresser ;)
One other thing...notice the chevron patterns in the wood grain? It is a "current" piece and doesn't even know it! I wonder if you were to switch the first and second drawers, and stand back and look at it, if the pattern would "flow" across the entire piece??
Follow the yellow brick road...nuff said :)
Whatever you do, it'll be amazing. Let the slump run its course and allow yourself some time to just be.
Waiting patiently to see what color Laverne becomes.

Starting from somewhere
is a good place to start.
You've got brains,
you've got courage
and, my friend,
you've got heart.
And if you were nowhere,
then where could you go?
For nowhere is nowhere,
and boy, that's no road.
And, though it might not be fun there,
in this somewhere you sit,
with time and inspiration,
you'll find its true fit!
So fun! Can't wait to see what her due turns out to be. I'll stay tuned.
Sclameil schamazel!
Laverne is a beauty - I think she needs a big L stenciled onto her chest!
Kelly
I always wondered if I could pull off a big L on my boob....
Anyway, I loved the sneak peak at your "to-do tunnel"!!! Can I come over and shop? I can't WAIT to see what Laverne becomes!! ~L
