Madness

...the mid-century kind.

it appears that peeps are mad at it or mad over it.  which are you, an at-er or an over-er?

wait!  let's talk before you answer.

we know that this world in which we live is not black or white;  it's gray, grey, griege, silvery, smokey, stone, ash.  need i go on?

next point.

how about that "all or nothing" stuff we hear about?  yep, earth ain't that either.

so, must we choose to don a hat from either extreme team of "at" or "over" regarding the mid-century mania?

i think not.

see what i'm sayin'?  a dime-size dab'll do some dazzlin' up of 'doz digs with delicious design "umpf".  your peeps'll be like, "DANG! i declare dat's some DE-zine doin' in 'der."

you're welcome.

a bit ago i dove into the smooth and somewhat intimidating world of mid-century furniture.

remember her?  yep, best to start small, simple... and leggy.

i graduated to greater goods. $40 greater.

meet dorothy.  no, you may not call her dot.

dorothy was not perfect when we met, however, for a chick in her 50's, i'd say she was might-T-fine.

a smattering of glue stabilized her solid legs....

a spin with the sander, a pit-a-pat of primer and paint...

and a whoosh of wax to ring in a whistle.

dorothy's a done deal.

DY-NO-MITE, dontcha think?

dive on in, dearies.  it's delightful to dally the mid-century direction.

doe-de-do-dum.
dum-dee-de.
off to find some mid-century....

(hey...if you don't receive a reply to your comment it's probably b/c you have your blogger account set to "NO REPLY".  get on that, peeps!!!)

Mid century is growing on me - the lines, the grains, the solid wood-i-ness of it all! Love this - especially the handles!

I love mid-mod balanced with other design. It is like a really cool accessory that you want to stand out in a room. I love your little dresser! I'm in the midst of a mid-mod beast. Guess we were both thinking the same thing this week. Happy hunting!

Dorothy is one hot chick. Must be something in the air because I just pickd up a $25 totally awesome mid-century dresser that I am thinking of a similar look. Great work!

I love love love mid-century, always have, those straight, no frou frou allowed lines... Oh my!

And now it's all the rage and it sort of annoys me that Mad Men screwed up my little secret.

Dorothy, by the way, is lovely indeed.

I'm not the biggest mid century fan, but I do believe the most interesting and eye appealing designs implement various styles. :-)

I'm loving the mid-century right now! My house is beginning to lean to the '70s right now with the hand me downs I have been getting. And I have '60s in the garage for spiffing and resale. Its fun :-)

If we are comparing mid-century styles, then Hollywood Regency will always win against Mid Century Modern for me (I'm a maximalist, what can I say). That being said, it has definitely grown on me and when seen in such gorgeous examples as you've shown here, then I'm happy to still see it out and about in all it's glory!

Dorothy is a beauty, no doubt! x

I Love how clean and organized your home is. I always have trouble as my friends and parents give me things and it just gets my home all cluttered. I love your bear rug and your beautiful paintings.
