Yo, Yo, Yo....

first, i just want to let the 3 readers awaiting my post "Part 2: Apology...I Think" that it's on its way in the next few hours and it'll have some answers to questions bloggers didn't know they have.  for now, it's safe to get up, walk the dog, use the restroom and probably brush and floss.  maybe squeeze in a shower and a snack.  hurry back, though!

in the meantime, here's a before and after to tide you over... meet tess.

i can't stop myself from attacking a new-to-me piece with my sander

tess was a philly suburb craigslist pickup from a glum guy with an unidentifiable accent.  for 50 bucks--a tad out of my usual target range of "free to almost free"--i mulled her over but decided she's the rather useful kind.

handy storage, right?
another victim of my aqua rage period, tess was painted with a custom mix of god-know's-what and some-sort-of-white, both latex as i had yet to muster up the courage to spend $35/quart on ms. sloan's chalk concoction.  a once over with a homemade glaze and some distressing to show authentic-pretend wear and tear, and BAM!  she's outta here!  dunzi, finito, off to the shop.

oh, you want to know about "the shop"?  it's a short story so i'll breeze through it for you.  a local shop--that appears to sell seasonal plants and berries, fabulous hungarian nut bread and various rusty stuff hangin' around outside--was kind enough to allow me some space for TWENTY-FIVE BUCKAROONIES a month.  not bad, right?  yeah, well, it didn't work out and i sold nuttin' while my goods were there for 3 months. i packed it in when their prices increase 6-fold.

or so i thought i sold nuttin' until three peeps sought me out AFTER i skedaddled wanting to buy basement dwelling pieces or commission my services.  go flippin' figure.

so what now?  logically, i've piled finished pieces in my basement studio where no one can see them b/c i'm too cheap to pay per month again.

and some say i don't have good business sense.  (snort, snort)

back to the piece at hand....

indoor pics stink when you are a clueless photog wanna-be

before...

ta-da!

tess sold for $395 to a sweet horse-loving, dog-rescuing, pick-up driving farmer accountant chick who has her tv held up on tess' sturdy structure.

i'm good with that.

now, off to...um...do.  you, too, should go do. now.

(after i do some linky-dinky-do...)

Wow, I love it. Such a non-boring color without being loud. I've been researching the Annie Sloan paints this morning too. Want 'em, but I'm not paying more for the paint than I do the furniture it's going on! That's highway robbery...and I'm cheap. And unemployed.

knob on sale at anthropologie! funny, as it turned out i removed the knob to put on another piece (see my post "is annie sloan paint really all that?" or something like that!) so i let the client pick through my "goodie box" of knobs. of course, she picked the most expensive non-sale one!
