yup, i did it again. i'll try to spare you the ramble and babble and let the pics spit their 1,000 words each.

bought it for 20 bucks from a smart guy named jack......
who knew better than to tangle with 'dis sh#@.
| but--as with the ugliest tomato at the stand--it had me at "hello" |
de-caned, de-crudded and de-leaded...
eh? yep, eh. countless hours. still... just "eh".
"eh" needed "oomph" so in came the industrial-ish screens
$9 + tools + dusty foot + 40 minutes + X = new shelves.
X = trim (algebra, remember?)
"eh" + greek blue + red = brighter "eh"
drill + screws = desperately seeking "oooohhh!" & "aaaahhh!"
original brass "nubbies" + old white = eclectic "eh" (maybe)
ooooohhh???
hmmm.
| ahhhh??? |
eh.
just eh.
...off to search for "ooohh!" and "aaahhh!".

Boy, you really went at this full force. It doesn't look like the same piece. I think it's more than "eh". What's coming next?
I have a feeling this one will get ALOT of OOOHHHHS and AHHHHS from the blogging public. I just love how it turned out - though I don't think I would have had the guts to tackle it. I love the screen/metal shelves and the touches of red on the trim. Fantastically, amazingly, wonderful!!
Ho,Ho,Ho...Merrrrrry, ummm, you betta start hookin up dis prOject, girl, cuz you KRAZY... That, my dear, is what the intellectual community would call, brilliant, genius, and a whole lotta otha big words that are not in my squishy little grey matter of a brain... You never cease to catch me with my pants down...
I think it is fantastic! Love the screening instead of glass for shelves...well that is what I thought you were gonna do, but this is much cooler.
Get your eyes checked Gurl! You did a fab job on this - love, love, love it!! Curious how strong the 'shelves' are - did you put any support under or was it not needed?
oh amy! i am in LOVE. that piece is awesome!!! awesome awesome awesome! no more to say.
Wow...what a stunning transformation! I mean wow, really, that's just jaw dropping! You are talented. Stopping by from Mod Mix Monday. Have a great week!

Amy, Amy, Amy...this is a gorgeous piece! The only change I'd make (if it were mine to make) is that I'd distress it more. Just my personal preference on my painted stuff. ; )
Great job!
~Tina
Just eh? Are you kidding Amy???? It's gorgeous and an AMAZING re-do!!!! I LOVE IT!!!
Sandi @ Making It Homey said... This is so cool, what a great find. You did such a good job on the redo. Congrats on the Leibster award as well.

You are way too hard on yourself. That is a 100% improvement and looks awesome.
I think it is fantastic work you shared. The screening instead of glass for shelves is superb. Really stunning transformation.
Oh my goodness, that is fantastic!! I love the incredible transformation, and what a great idea to use the chicken wire for the shelving. I love, I love it, I love it. I am also following now. I would love a follow back (I am hoping to reach 500 followers this week!!) Thanks. http://cedarhillranch.blogspot.com/
Wow, I think it looks 200% better now! Looks like it would have been tough to put the screening in...I never would have thought of that. One of my fav color combos for a pop is a black wash (or a dark wax) over red. It really shows the detail on a piece like this with fluted legs.
uh, yeah...i did happen to have my eyes tested just this week AND I NEED GLASSES! hahahaaahaa! but not the kind that will make me love this guy. nope.
what is wrong with you people? i think it's as dull as a builder-grade doorknob. how about orange? i think i hear it screamin' for orange.
but it's sturdy! the screen is stapled in a zillion places under the wood trim. sturdy but still "eh".
I love it! Following you from the Project Queen.

I just found you on Shabby Creek & this is awesome! Makes me want to go find some junk piece & see what I can do with it! :)
YOu have been busy! I was kind of scared of the before pictures, but the afters are amazing!
It is a magnificent transformation. It may not be the oooh and aaah you're looking for but it is great. So much better than what it started as. I can definitely see it in orange though.
Ruth
